Carlos Álvarez Voullième

He is a civil/industrial engineer who holds a master’s degree in economics from the Universidad de Chile and a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University. He has served at the helm of public institutions dedicated to competitiveness and technological innovation policies and has held executive positions at international development organizations.

Mr. Álvarez also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Public Enterprise System Committee (SEP) and in July 2016 became the Director of InvestChile. During those years, he also served as a commissioner of the country’s National Productivity Commission.

He was appointed as Undersecretary of the Economy in 2004, a position he held until 2006 when he became Executive Vice President of CORFO, the Chilean Economic Development Agency. In 2010, he was elected Deputy Director of the OECD Development Centre based in Paris, France.
